Where PerformYard wins: review form flexibility
PerformYard's genuine edge is its form builder. If you need different review formats for engineers, sales, executives, and operations — each with different rating scales, section weights, and competency tables — PerformYard lets HR build and maintain those configurations without developer help. This is genuinely stronger than most competitors' form builders, including Harmny's.
For companies with complex, multi-population review programs where the form itself is a strategic HR decision (e.g., a law firm with different review criteria by practice area, or a manufacturer with union and non-union populations), PerformYard's flexibility is worth the trade-offs.
Where Harmny wins: everything beyond the review form
PerformYard's engagement module is absent. If you're using PerformYard, you have no engagement survey capability inside the platform — you need a separate tool for that. Harmny includes a full engagement suite: engagement index, statistical driver analysis, continuous heatmap, exit and regrettable-attrition classification, action uptake dashboard with outcome deltas, and a behavioral pulse layer.
PerformYard also has no Manager Coaching AI. Harmny's Manager Coaching AI generates async pre-1:1 briefing documents from behavioral engagement data — something only possible because Harmny has the gamification exhaust PerformYard lacks.
Career pathing is another gap: PerformYard's competency features are review-time tools for HR and managers. Harmny's career frameworks are employee-facing — every employee logs in and sees their current ratings vs. next-level requirements today.
Choose Harmny if:
- ✓ You want engagement analytics alongside performance management
- ✓ Career pathing employees can see year-round matters
- ✓ Manager Coaching AI (pre-1:1 briefs) is valuable
- ✓ Behavioral engagement data matters
- ✓ Free tier to start, self-serve
- ✓ Review forms are relatively consistent across the org
Choose PerformYard if:
- • Highly differentiated review forms across many job families is the primary need
- • Complex weighting, custom rating scales, and form logic are required
- • You have a separate engagement tool and just need a best-in-class review engine
- • HR form configurability without developer help is the priority
