The short version
15Five and Lattice get cross-shopped constantly, and honestly, they shouldn't be as often as they are. They're built for different companies. 15Five is an opinionated coaching tool a 60-person company can run without an HR department. Lattice is an enterprise platform that expects an implementation project, a dedicated HR team, and pricing that scales up fast once you add modules. Most of the "which one?" agonizing dissolves once you know your headcount, your budget for add-on modules, and whether anyone owns HR full time.

Pricing: two platforms, both modular now
Neither vendor sells a single flat per-seat price anymore. 15Five splits into Engage ($4/user/month, pulse only), Perform ($11/user/month, reviews and continuous feedback), and Total Platform ($16/user/month, both plus manager enablement), with no seat minimum. Lattice's core Talent Management module runs $11/seat/month, with Engagement (+$4), Compensation (+$6), and Grow (+$4) as separate add-ons, and a $4,000/year minimum contract commitment in place of the old seat minimum.
For a 12-person team on Lattice's core plan, that $4,000/year minimum works out to about $333/month, close to the floor a 25-seat minimum used to create, so small teams pay for capacity they aren't using either way. 15Five's tiered pricing has no such floor: a 12-person team on Perform pays $132/month with nothing extra. A fully-loaded Lattice deployment across all four modules runs roughly $15-19/user/month once every module is added, so comparing Lattice's $11 headline rate to 15Five's price without accounting for add-ons understates the real cost.
AI: coaching versus documentation
Both shipped headline AI features, and comparing them one-to-one misses what each is for. Kona AI, 15Five's assistant, now a $19/manager/month add-on, works during the live 1:1: it listens and suggests coaching moves in the moment, what to ask next, how to reframe. It's a coach in the manager's ear. Lattice's AI Meeting Agent, launched early 2026, is a note-taker: live transcription, auto-summaries, action items. It makes meetings cheaper to document, not necessarily better to run.
So the question isn't "whose AI is better." It's which problem your managers actually have, and which vendor's add-on price you're willing to carry. Managers who freeze mid-conversation get more from Kona. Managers drowning in follow-up admin get more from the Meeting Agent.
Engagement: check-ins versus benchmarks
This one is less close. 15Five's Engage tier is weekly pulse check-ins, useful as a manager-to-report signal, thin as an analytics product. Lattice's engagement add-on is a mature suite with industry benchmark data built from a large customer base, its real differentiator. If your board asks "how do we compare to peers," Lattice's engagement module can answer that and 15Five's Engage tier can't.
Who should pick which
Pick 15Five if:
- • You're a small team (no seat minimum or annual contract floor to worry about)
- • You want the strengths-based Best-Self Review methodology
- • Live in-meeting coaching (Kona AI add-on) is the draw
- • You need to be running this week, not after an implementation
Pick Lattice if:
- • You're 200+ with a dedicated HR team
- • Deep Workday / Rippling / BambooHR integration is required
- • Compensation and merit cycles need to live in the same tool
- • Industry-benchmarked engagement reporting is a board requirement
The third option most teams in this comparison miss
Full disclosure, this is our page and our product, so weigh accordingly. But the pattern behind most 15Five-vs-Lattice searches is a 20-200 person team that finds 15Five's higher tiers pricey and Lattice heavy once the add-ons stack up. That's the gap Harmny was built for: $8/user/month on Starter, free up to 10 users, self-serve setup, with the competency frameworks and employee-visible career pathing neither of these two does deeply, plus time off, attendance, onboarding, and compliance in the same tool. The honest trade-offs: no live in-meeting coaching like Kona, and lighter HRIS payroll integrations than Lattice. Details in Harmny vs Lattice, or see the full 15Five alternatives roundup.
